A higher education institution in the UK is looking for a Clinical Lecturer to join its team focusing on paramedic education. Based in the Northwest, the role involves delivering the BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science to staff of the North West Ambulance Service and requires experience in pre-hospital education and as a registered healthcare professional. The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. Currently we have over 1100 learners on CPD programmeswith formal contracts with 9 out of the 11 English ambulance services, as well as an open access paramedic course at our Lancaster campus. This pedigree in paramedic education has led to the creation of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which recently won the Preferred Provider Status for the Southern Ambulance Alliance (SWAST, SCAS, SECAMB, LAS, IoW), East of England Ambulance Service and North West Ambulance Service for paramedic degree apprenticeships. The University now has over 900 registered learners across the 6 apprenticeship programmes.
The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), in conjunction with the University of Cumbria, are seeking applications for either a 2-year fixed term role of "Clinical Lecturer" or a 2-year secondment. The successful post holder will work with the North West Academic Team to deliver the University's BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science to NWAS, IOM and GHA members of staff who are undertaking the new Paramedic Science Degree Apprenticeship.
The post will be based in the North-West however there may be the requirement to travel to neighbouring Trusts to support the delivery of the same programme. The post holder should be an appropriately registered healthcare professional with experience of working within the pre-hospital environment as well as experience in delivering either ambulance based pre-hospital education or Higher Education Institution based healthcare education. Post holders will be supported to complete the first module of the postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching in higher education if this has not been achieved already. In addition, a bespoke induction programme will be available for new starters to engage with to support their transition into Higher Education.
