Whether supporting someone at home or out in the community, you’ll be helping them live life on their terms.

About the Role

Our Support Workers provide a person-centred approach in delivering quality support, making our service very flexible and adaptable to everyone’s needs. The role of a Support Worker is integral to the quality of support provision and can be rewarding and inspiring. You will support people to identify and work towards meaningful outcomes, to participate in their community and develop new and maintain existing relationships.

You will be offering care and support to one adult with learning disabilities to ensure the running of their home, health and wellbeing. This will include personal care, medication administration, housework, shopping, cooking and most importantly maintaining and developing each person’s independent skills. Social support will be given to each person daily and weekly to ensure involvement and independence within their community. Support plans and risk assessments are in place to ensure continued accurate support.

You will be required to liaise with medical professionals when required. You may be asked to work across other services that we provide care and support to across West Lothian. An enhanced Adult PVG will be required for this role.

Shift Pattern
  • 8 am – 3 pm
  • 9 am – 3 pm
  • 3 pm – 10 pm
  • 4 pm – 8 pm

Broxburn shifts are variable split across the day into Morning, Afternoon and Evening calls. Each call is not less than 1 hour.

Experience needed
  • Demonstrable track record of working with people with learning disabilities in a supported living and enabling environment.
  • Commitment to the principles of community care.
  • Understanding of development needs of adults with a learning disability (social, personal, physical, occupational and leisure).
  • Understanding of the needs of people with disabilities, including learning disabilities, multiple disabilities and complex needs.
