Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Croydon is seeking a motivated undergraduate for a Summer Placement in their Non-Infrastructure Wastewater team. This role offers a 6-10 week opportunity to gain hands-on civil engineering design experience while working on wastewater treatment and process-based projects. You will assist in design activities, support CAD drawings, and interact with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates are studying Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have a strong interest in wastewater projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with civil engineering design for wastewater treatment assets.

  • Assist with design calculations for tanks, structures, drainage, and foundations.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports and design documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Gain exposure to industry standards, health & safety, and design risk management.

As part of our Early careers 2026 cohort, we are looking to hire a Summer Placement in our Water team

Summer Placement – Civil Engineering (Non-Infrastructure Wastewater)

Exeter And Croydon | 6-10 week Placement

We are looking for a motivated undergraduate to join our Non-Infrastructure Wastewater team for a 6-10 week summer placement. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on civil engineering design experience within a consultancy environment, supporting the delivery of wastewater treatment and process‑based assets.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering non‑infra wastewater projects such as treatment works upgrades, process plant improvements, tanks, structures, drainage, and associated civil works.

You will be joining a hard working and experienced team specialising predominantly on wastewater and clean water projects, infrastructure, or non‑infrastructure.

The team work collaboratively across the UK and this role would be based in our Croydon office. You will have the opportunity to work on many key projects in the Water sector. One of our recent successes was the upgrade of the Arley Sewage Treatment Works to comply with stringent water quality targets under the Water Framework Directive. About the Role

As a Summer Placement Student, you will support civil engineering design activities across feasibility, outline, and detailed design stages. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will contribute to technical designs, calculations, drawings, and project documentation.
