Job summary

A healthcare provider in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to join their Medicine team. The ideal candidate will provide Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy interventions to patients, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a passion for improving quality of life. Responsibilities include managing a patient caseload and working closely with qualified staff. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with training and development provided.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistants to provide Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy intervention to patients within the Medicine team including older peoples medicine.

Experience of both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy is beneficial as the successful candidates will be working closely with qualified staff from each profession.

We are looking for well‑motivated individuals who have excellent communication skills. They should be passionate about maximising quality of life, preventing deconditioning, promoting wellbeing and enabling people to maintain functional independence.

Training and support will be provided and the successful individuals will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • To work alongside the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to deliver Therapy to a complex caseload on the ward.
  • To independently manage a designated caseload of patients defined as non‑complex within a specified clinical area, providing assessment and interventions on behalf of the Therapies within predetermined guidelines.
  • To deliver and fit assistive equipment in the patient’s home as directed by the therapist.
