MCS Group is recruiting on behalf of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to appoint a Quality Assurance Pharmacist (Band 8a) within their Pharmacy & Medicines Management Service.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded QA team, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding patient safety through the oversight of medicines quality systems, regulatory compliance, and clinical governance. You will work at a senior level, influencing practice across hospital and aseptic services while supporting continuous improvement and innovation.
Lead and deliver highly specialist pharmaceutical quality assurance services across hospital pharmacy operations, including aseptic services, procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines.
Act as a senior professional lead for QA systems, ensuring compliance with GMP, GDP, MHRA standards, and relevant legislation.
Provide expert advice on medicines quality, risk management, incidents, complaints, recalls, and regulatory inspections.
Take a leadership role in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality management systems, SOPs, audits, and governance frameworks.
Support, supervise, and develop pharmacy staff, contributing to training, competency assessment, and professional development.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, external regulators, suppliers, and regional QA networks to maintain best practice standards.
Contribute to service development, audit, research, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with patient safety and organisational priorities.
Maintain high professional standards through CPD, adherence to GPhC guidance, and active engagement in clinical governance and risk management.
MPharm (or equivalent) and registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Significant post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy, with demonstrable experience in quality assurance, governance, or regulatory compliance.
In-depth knowledge of medicines legislation, GMP/GDP principles, and pharmacy quality systems.
Proven ability to work at a senior level, providing leadership, expert advice, and service development within a complex healthcare setting.
