A leading facilities management organization in Birmingham is seeking a Principal Building Manager. This role is pivotal in providing strategic and technical leadership for all building works across a sizable estate. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory regulations, while also implementing performance metrics and overseeing external service contracts. Strong organizational and leadership skills are required for effective collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical expert on all aspects of building fabric services.
• Ensure all building services activities comply with statutory regulations.
• Implement, manage and report SLAs and KPIs, improving performance when necessary.
• Collaborate with other teams for effective service delivery.
• Manage external service contracts including cost control.

Job description

The Principle Building Manager will be the key strategic and technical lead for all aspects of Building works across a large estates.

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you will work with equivalent roles colleagues to deliver building fabric maintenance to deliver a comprehensive, multiyear, maintenance strategy.

• Act as the technical expert on all aspects of building fabric services, including contractor performance and compliance.
• Ensure all building services activities comply with statutory regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Implement, manage and report SLA s and KPI s and ensure target response times are consistently met. Monitor and manage areas of concern if they occur and develop a strategy to improve performance.
• Work with other areas and teams within the Estates department taking a one team approach in service delivery and resource allocation.
• Manage external service contracts relating to electrical services maintenance including cost control and supplier review.
