Personal Assistant for gentleman P/T @ £13.00/hr in Leeds - Leeds - LS13

Overview

I am in my 40s with autism and have a learning disability. I love life and enjoy living in my own home. I would like someone to work with me to help me remain independent.

Responsibilities
  • Manage finances and bills, read material and interpret most written information.
  • Provide prompts to maintain self‑care and assistance as necessary (e.g., take me to the barber).
  • Provide prompts to keep my property clean and tidy and assistance as necessary (e.g., cleaning).
  • Assist with laundry: organise loads, transport to laundrette, ensure laundry is dry, and put it away in the correct place.
  • Assist in engaging in events and activities and help me get to and from events.
  • Assist with a weekly shopping budget, control spending on food shopping, prompt to select healthy options, and ensure I have enough food for the week.
  • Assist with putting away shopping, managing sell‑by dates and food hygiene.
  • Help me communicate verbally over the phone and in person when there is an issue (e.g., a problem with my phone bill).
  • Help me keep safe online and with online forms, writing and reading emails/letters.
  • Help with cooking: manage cooking times, heat temperature.
  • Use strategies to help me say the right words, given my autism and communication style.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of autism and ability to use strategies that help me express myself clearly.
  • Good at encouraging and guiding me to use appropriate words.
Availability
  • Monday, Tuesday – all day.
  • Thursday – from 3:00 pm.
  • Friday – from 3:00 pm.
  • Weekends – optional (e.g., evening outings such as cinema or dancing).
  • Additional hours available during holidays from work or a full free week; weekday evenings are also possible.

  • Going to the cinema.
  • Dancing.
  • Live music and theatre.
  • Enjoying meals and coffee with people and walking.
  • Least favourite: sport.
