Job summary

A leading education trust located in Gateshead is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to assist with catering operations at St Bede’s Catholic School. The role involves ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation, and the successful candidate will hold specific culinary qualifications, including City & Guilds. This is a permanent position with attractive work hours, and the Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications

  • Hold the City & Guilds 7061 and 7062 or equivalent NVQ.
  • Experience catering in large quantities to a high standard.
  • Relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene qualifications are necessary.

  • Assist the Chef Manager in planning and providing catering operations.
  • Deputise for the Chef Manager during their absence.

Job description
Kitchen Supervisor

Location: St Bede’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College, Lanchester, DH7 0RD

Grade: Grade E, SCP 8-11 (£26,823 - £28,141 per annum, pro rata)

Hours: Permanent, 32 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only + 3 days (38.6 weeks)

Bishop Wilkinson is the largest Catholic education trust in the North East of England and will contain 48 schools when fully formed. This is an exciting time to join our supportive team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chef Manager plan, organise and provide catering operations to ensure that food quality, presentation and service are provided to high standards, as defined by the Trust Catering Team.
  • Deputise when the Chef Manager is unavailable, catering for all school service periods, important events and special services.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold the City & Guilds 7061 and 7062 or an equivalent NVQ, along with a relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene qualification, and will bring experience of catering in large quantities to a high standard in an education or commercial setting.
