Job description

Highland Cinema is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join the team in its busy restaurant and café bar, part of one of Lochaber’s most distinctive venues.

This is a permanent position offering 30+ hours each week, with some evening and weekend shifts.

You will support both the prep kitchen and the main café bar kitchen, working closely with the Kitchen Manager to prepare ingredients, make pizzas and other dishes, and help ensure every plate leaving the kitchen meets the venue’s high standards.

You will assist with cooking, presentation, food prep, stock handling and general kitchen organisation during busy periods.

Maintaining a clean, safe and well run kitchen is central to the role.

You will follow cleaning schedules, manage crockery and cutlery promptly, keep work areas tidy and proactively support hygiene and food safety at all times.

You will also contribute to creating a smooth customer experience by responding politely to requests when needed and flagging any concerns to the Kitchen Manager or person in charge.

Highland Cinema is a creative hub for local people and visitors, and the kitchen is key to that experience.

The team works quickly, communicates clearly and takes pride in delivering good food in a welcoming environment.

Prior kitchen experience is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right person who brings a positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to stay calm and effective under pressure.

Pay ranges from £9 to £13 per hour depending on age and experience.

Perks include a uniform t-shirt, a share of tips and free cinema tickets.
