The Devonshire Group comprises the Devonshire family interests, charities and businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, including Chatsworth in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex.

Across our estates and businesses, we operate visitor attractions, shops, restaurants and luxury accommodation, alongside tenanted residential and commercial property, farming and forestry enterprises, and a significant property development pipeline. We employ around 1,400 colleagues across more than 65,000 acres.

We are committed to benefitting heritage, people and a shared future, preserving and enhancing our heritage assets, supporting our communities, and leading by example in how we do things.

About the role

The IT Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the effective day-to-day running of the Devonshire Group’s IT function.

Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will provide proactive administrative, organisational and governance support across all areas of the department. You’ll help ensure IT activity is well organised, documented, compliant and communicated clearly, enabling the wider IT team to focus on delivering secure, reliable and high-quality services to the Group.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys bringing structure, clarity and organisation to a busy environment, and who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

This is a full-time role working 5-days a week from the Chatsworth Estate Office, near Edensor, Derbyshire. Hybrid working will be available with flexibility to meet business needs. There will be some travel to other Devonshire Group locations.

What you’ll be doing
  • Coordinating contractor bookings and site visits, ensuring access, paperwork and confirmations are in place
  • Acting as a first point of contact for IT suppliers and contractors, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Processing authorised orders for IT hardware, software, services and connectivity changes, and tracking progress through to completion
  • Maintaining accurate IT documentation including installation records, deployment notes, service information and process documents
  • Supporting the Head of IT with the preparation of simple governance reports, internal records and monthly checks and audits
  • Producing clear internal briefs, handover notes and user-facing how-to documents
  • Coordinating meetings, actions and communication across the IT team, ensuring information flows smoothly
  • Liaising with suppliers to monitor service status, follow up on orders and obtain quotes when requested
  • Maintaining up-to-date records of IT services, licences, connections and project-related activity
  • Supporting IT activity across multiple Group sites as required
About you

You’ll be highly organised, detail-focused and confident using a computer as part of your day-to-day work. You’ll be comfortable working with standard office applications, managing calendars and schedules, and keeping information accurate, up to date and easy to access.

You’ll enjoy bringing structure to a busy environment and supporting others to work efficiently.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong general IT literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
  • Experience managing calendars, meetings and schedules, including supporting senior colleagues
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and discreet approach when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • The confidence to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and contractors

It would be beneficial to have some familiarity with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project (or similar tools), and experience producing simple documentation or user guides. You do not need to be highly technical, this role is focused on coordination, organisation and communication rather than hands-on IT delivery.

In return

You’ll join a supportive and friendly IT team within a values-led organisation that genuinely cares about its people. You’ll play a key role in helping the IT function operate effectively and professionally across a diverse, multi-site organisation.

We offer a range of benefits including a wellbeing calendar of events, an onsite gym and swimming pool, and an Estate Pass providing free access to Chatsworth for you and your guests, plus discounts across Devonshire Group hotels, shops and restaurants. Details of our employee benefits can be found here: https://devonshiregroup.co.uk/work-with-us/working-at-the-devonshire-group/

Our core values include “Being Inclusive” and we particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates who are currently under-represented. We also welcome applicants from the LGBTQ+ community. Flexible ways of working will always be considered.

Successful candidates will be invited to attend a 2-stage selection process.
