Food Service Assistant (School) - Wembley area (multiple sites). BD Group, Wembley, England, United Kingdom.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for engaged and dedicated catering staff. As a Food Service Assistant (FSA) you will help to prepare and serve meals to children and staff in a school lunch-time environment. This role covers three school sites in the Wembley area (including the North Wembley and North Brent areas); the ability to travel to both locations is required. This is a part-time, term-time only role, with hours that can fit around caring or other responsibilities.

This is a great entry-level role for those less familiar with a commercial kitchen. It offers opportunities to learn and develop over time, with a pathway to leadership roles such as Assistant Cook for those who progress.

Duties
  • Take instruction from the Cook Supervisor & Assistant Cook.
  • Support the team with the preparation and service of hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • Set out the dining area.
  • Clear away and wash up.
  • Handle food storage and preparation using commercial kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Maintain the highest kitchen and food hygiene standards.
  • Use knowledge of food hygiene and allergens to prevent cross-contamination.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification (or willingness to work towards this); understanding of Health and Safety procedures, knowledge of food allergens and cross-contamination principles.
  • Other food industry qualifications and experience are an advantage.
  • Friendly manner, willingness to learn, work hard, and deliver great service.
  • Ability to use initiative to solve routine issues while maintaining safe working practices; strong teamwork and independent working skills; good communication.
  • Good grasp of English to understand and follow written instructions.
  • Enhanced DBS check required for this role.
Working Arrangements
  • Part-time, Permanent (25 hours per week), Monday to Friday.
  • Location: working across three sites to provide cover within the Wembley area (North Brent/North Wembley).
  • £12.21 per hour.
