Job description

The ESG Advisor plays a key role in embedding sustainability practices across N-Sea’s marine operations. This position ensures compliance with international maritime regulations, drives environmental and social initiatives, and strengthens the governance framework that supports responsible business. The ESG Advisor identifies risks and opportunities, supports strategic decision-making, and contributes to our decarbonisation, transparency, and long-term sustainability objectives.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Advising the ESG leadership team on marine-specific ESG risks, opportunities, and industry best practices.
  • Monitoring evolving maritime regulations (IMO, EU ETS, CII) and ensuring compliance across all operational jurisdictions.
  • Leading ESG data collection and reporting for CDP, VSME, internal dashboards, and other frameworks.
  • Coordinating with operations, technical, and crewing teams to support sustainability initiatives such as carbon reduction, circularity programs, and governance improvements.
  • Conducting benchmarking and competitive analysis within the shipping and offshore energy sectors.
  • Providing insights and recommendations based on ESG ratings, audits, and vessel performance assessments.
  • Preparing presentations, briefing documents, and sustainability insights for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Keeping up to date with global sustainability trends and emerging maritime decarbonisation technologies.
  • Supporting the digitalisation and continuous improvement of ESG processes, data systems, and reporting tools.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in ESG or sustainability roles within the marine or offshore energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and maritime regulations (IMO, EU ETS).
  • Familiarity with climate metrics, decarbonisation pathways, and reporting platforms.
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and capable of influencing across operational and strategic levels.
