Job summary

A leading educational organization is seeking an experienced End Point Assessor to evaluate apprentices in Adult Care. The role involves assessing performance based on published criteria and contributing to the continuous improvement of assessment activities. End Point Assessor - Apprenticeship - Adult Care and Lead Adult Worker 2020

Independent end-point assessor for Adult Care Worker (Level 2) and Lead Adult Care Worker (Level 3).

Overview: Pearson is the world\'s leading learning company. The independent end-point assessor (IEA) operates to assess apprentices in line with the apprenticeship assessment plan and Pearson quality assurance standards. Assessments may be conducted onsite or remotely on dates agreed with employers and/or providers. Ian IEA will be qualified IQAs, trained and approved to operate as IEAs, and will submit EPA outcomes with clear justifications for grading decisions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Take part in regular training and standardisation activities related to the role of independent end-point assessor for this EPA
  • Maintain and provide evidence of ongoing, relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Assess the performance of candidates according to published assessment and grading criteria and procedures
  • Follow Pearson\'s specifications, assessment materials and quality assurance protocols
  • Maintain service-level agreements for EPA planning, operational activities, reports and submission of assessment outcomes
  • Report risks and issues during the end-point assessment, including any suspected malpractice/misconduct
  • Ensure EPA reports and assessment evidence are high quality and accurately recorded
  • Support Pearson with appeals from apprentices regarding assessment decisions (if required)
  • Allow additional travel time for EPA arrangements
  • Raise conflicts of interest related to independence of assessment
  • Ensure required personal actions are completed by Pearson standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Pearson\'s EPA activities

Lead Adult Care Worker

A Lead Adult Care Worker supports individuals facing physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They exercise judgement and provide leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care, supervising other care workers where applicable. They may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings. This standard also covers Lead Personal Assistants who work directly for one individual, usually in their own home.

Adult Care Worker

Adult Care Workers provide high quality compassionate care and support, enabling individuals to live as independently and safely as possible. Roles vary by service type, including residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or a person\'s own home. This standard covers both Adult Care Workers and Personal Assistants.

Background And Experience (Essential)

  • Current relevant occupational competence within the workplace
  • Knowledge and understanding of the adult care sector
  • Qualified with a relevant health and social care qualification at or above the level they are assessing (Level 3 or above for this IEA role)
  • IQA/assessor qualification
  • Experience of leading meetings/structured interviews/discussions
  • Experience of complying with quality assurance/regulatory requirements
  • Evidence of commitment to maintaining CPD in line with apprenticeship requirements and EPA specialism
  • UK-based candidates only due to requirements
  • Minimum of two working days during the week will be required for the EPA role

  • Knowledge of the apprenticeship standard, assessment plan, specifications, instruments and recording tools
  • Ability to assess impartially and report risks
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Other Requirements

  • Have personal IT equipment capable of running Pearson required software
  • Have suitable broadband, microphone, headphones and a webcam
  • Have a personal and secure email account
  • Have a UK or Ireland postal address
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Allow additional travel time for EPA arrangements
