A leading Aboriginal Community-Controlled organization is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to provide high-quality policy advice and coordinate meetings. The role involves managing communications within the Koorie Caucus and ensuring stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate has extensive policy expertise and experience in the ACCO sector, holds a relevant tertiary qualification, and is passionate about supporting Aboriginal communities. The Aboriginal Strategic Governance Framework Koorie Caucus Senior Policy Officer provides independent, high‑quality policy advice to community members, offering clear analysis of proposals and guidance on risks, opportunities and implications. The role leads key secretariat functions, coordinating meetings, preparing documents and managing communication between all members of the Koorie Caucus and Working Groups, while ensuring the Chair, Co‑Chair and members are well briefed, supported on emerging issues, and connected with key government partners, particularly the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing’s Aboriginal Self‑Determination and Outcomes division.
You bring strong policy expertise, offering independent, high‑level advice to community members and providing clear analysis of proposals, risks and opportunities. You’re skilled in planning and coordinating meetings, managing agendas, papers and minutes, and ensuring members are well supported and engaged. You understand and follow agreed processes when working with the Koorie Caucus and contribute to high‑quality reports, briefs and policy papers. You provide informed guidance on emerging issues in Aboriginal policy, help coordinate projects and tender processes, and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders, including the Caucus, Secretariat and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. You thrive in a small, collaborative team and are committed to actively participating in all required meetings.
