SUMMARY

We are an innovative and market-leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the Energy sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers and energy companies. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.

As the Migration Lead at ESG, you will operate as the workstream lead across multiple concurrent projects and programmes from pre-sales through to Go-Live, combining both business and technology skills. Providing a detailed understanding of ESG products and services to deliver the optimum migration approach pertinent to the client's own environments and business needs. This includes providing migration consultation, training delivery and knowledge transfer to external clients. As this is a new role to ESG, you will be expected to lead the charge with helping to shape and define the role and key responsibilities in conjunction with key internal stakeholders to ensure it delivers value to our internal teams and our customers.

As Migration Lead, you will also be expected to support and potentially mentor others within the wider team where appropriate. This is alongside refining and evolving the processes and procedures that underpin a successful migration, all of which are in support of delivering our teams vision and mission statement, alongside demonstrating ESG’s EPIC values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the data migration workstreams across multiple, concurrent projects or programmes, ensuring a seamless transition for our customers
  • Own the client engagement and coordination for any client facing migration projects and activities
  • Own agreed migration plan and workstream status reporting to both clients and ESG Project / Programme Managers
  • Act as a point of escalation and responsible for overall Migration RAID Management working closely with ESG Programme Managers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify any new product requirements, validate existing migration solutions and to collate input to the migration approach documentation and runbooks
  • Develop and implement the migration strategy in conjunction with clients and ESG colleagues where required
  • Own the supporting migration approach documentation including definition of entry/exit criteria, migration tolerances and thresholds
  • Own the external training and guidance on use of ESG standard product migration solutions (i.e., ETL)
  • Support clients with data cleanse queries, liaising with ESG Product SMEs and cross-functional teams where required
  • Work with clients and third-parties (where applicable) to define the migration test scenarios and success criteria, in line with the migration entry/exit criteria and agreed tolerances
  • Own the migration test plan including defect tracking and migration test reporting
  • Produce, own and manage the migration runbook through the migration test cycles and live cut over migration
  • Own the migration governance meetings including regular checkpoints, stand ups, defect management call and post go live migration review calls
  • Work with clients and ESG cross-functional teams to define, develop, run and analyse the reconciliation reports
  • Own the data quality checks and coordinate input from the ESG cross-functional teams
  • Periodically, review migration related documentation and tools to keep them up to date with product evolution and continuously improve processes
  • Support pre-sales discussions, alongside inputting into project management activities including creating and updating migration approach & timelines, initial scoping and estimating for the migration work
  • Support discovery phases for large-scale client implementations, leading the migration workshops to validate, agree and refine the approach to delivering a migration solution.
  • Develop understanding of the ESG products and energy industry knowledge in support of product evolution and changes to the migration solution; staying abreast of industry change leading to new migration requirements
  • Work with wider ESG colleagues to ensure a coherent and consistent approach to delivering migration consultancy services and knowledge transfer engagements
  • Work with all areas of the business to support ESG’s client-centric delivery approach, utilising consultancy qualities such as professionalism, judgement, creative thinking, insight, communication skills, expert knowledge, and integrity
  • Act as the bridge between the client and ESG Product, technical and operational teams
  • Own migration resource planning management
  • Drive continuous improvement through identifying and implementing migration process improvements
  • Ensure due diligence throughout and following the delivery of a project
  • All other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Proven track record of successfully leading migration activities and workstreams
  • Experienced in different migration approach and methods
  • Experienced in developing migration strategies and approach documentation
  • Experienced in the data migration lifecycle
  • Experienced in producing, planning & maintaining migration runbooks
  • Experience of data cleanse activities, roles & responsibilities and assurance of data integrity
  • Experienced in data migration reconciliation reporting
  • Experienced in resource management
  • Client facing, with excellent communication skills and evident professionalism
  • Adept in working across business stakeholders, technical SMEs and cross functional teams
  • Excellent written and communication skills, adapting where required
  • Comfortable in running workshop sessions with customer personnel who range from Exec to Operational level
  • Delivery of high levels of customer (internal and external) experience
  • Proven ability to deliver multiple projects at one time while achieving high customer satisfaction
  • Comprehensive analytical skills
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced role or environment
  • Energy Industry experience is desirable but not essential
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence and/or SharePoint and timesheet recording systems (i.e. NetSuite) is desirable
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the UK, and to spend time on Client sites supporting them face-to-face for extended periods as required to meet Client expectations and project deliverables
