The Opportunity Join Arup’s Global Payroll Shared Service Centre in Newcastle and help deliver accurate, high‑quality payroll services for our people across the UK, India, Middle East and Africa. This is a varied role offering exposure to multiple country payrolls, both in‑house and outsourced, within a collaborative, purpose‑driven organisation.

As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll support the full end‑to‑end monthly payroll cycle and play a key role in ensuring our members receive an excellent service. You will handle a wide range of activities, from core processing and statutory absence to reconciliations, journals and compliance, while contributing to process improvement across our shared service environment.

Responsibilities
  • Process monthly payrolls, including starters, leavers and one‑off payments.
  • Manage statutory absence (SMP, SPL etc.) and sickness updates.
  • Support shadow payroll activity and tax uploads.
  • Prepare payroll journals and perform account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with local payroll legislation.
  • Maintain accurate data through regular checking and cleansing.
  • Process third‑party payments and deliver excellent member support.
  • Help document, review and improve procedures.
