University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer one 12-month fixed term position for a Clinical Fellow to join the Cardiology team at the Bristol Heart Institute.
The successful applicant will be a doctor wishing to develop their skills and knowledge of Cardiology. The post will be focused on service provision, with out of hours and on-call duties not included. There will also be an opportunity to work in the new Cardiology same day emergency care unit.
The BHI is a state-of-the art £57m centre dedicated to cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging and cardiovascular research. The Department of Cardiology provides a secondary and tertiary service for Bristol and the surrounding area, and the facility includes four catheterisation laboratories and a hybrid catheter laboratory/surgical theatre. The BHI provides the 24/7 primary angioplasty service for the immediate catchment and the wider network. Outpatient clinics for general cardiology as well as specialised clinics including heart failure, valvular heart disease, electrophysiology (EP), intervention and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) take place in the BHI. A consultant led, post-take cardiology ward round is provided for all emergency admissions with a cardiac problem.

The post is based in the Bristol Heart Institute, which provides secondary and tertiary cardiac services in a purpose-built environment. We have 3 cardiology wards, 5 dedicated catheterisation labs and provide Cardiology for the population of South Bristol and North Somerset along with tertiary referrals from the whole of the Avon, Gloucester, Wiltshire and Somerset Cardiac Network. There are excellent opportunities for training and education while in post.
