Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity for 12 months to cover substantive post holders secondment leave
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a primary care senior staff nurse in one of our Forth Valley Prisons. This post will primarily be based within HMP Glenochil; opportunities to move to different sites for development and service need may be provided. Responsibilities
- You will deliver high quality care and treatment within this unique environment, working in partnership with SPS, and wider agencies.
- You will be a vital part of a holistic service, making a significant contribution to the health care needs, outcomes and experience of a complex and vulnerable population.
- The post holder will be a first level registered nurse, looking to develop and enhance their clinical skills and knowledge.
- They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- They will have the ability to work autonomously, with a high level of clinical decision making skills.
- They will be ambitious and a committed individual, supporting the development of a modern and innovative healthcare service.
- All posts are subject to rotation. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
Requirements and Conditions
- Member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (as part of the duties of the post).

- As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay is not affected.
- Certificate of Sponsorship: Applicants who require sponsorship to work in the UK should review eligibility for Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis following interview and at pre-employment checks.
- Potential sponsorship depends on meeting minimum salary thresholds and other required criteria; details are provided by NHS Forth Valley. Transitional arrangements may apply for those already on Skilled Worker visas.

- Secondment requests: Existing permanent employees must discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. The form and the associated policy are on the HR/Recruitment intranet pages and must be signed by the substantive line manager. The candidate should take it to interview as confirmation that an agreement has been granted.
