Job summary

A local primary school in Wickford is seeking a part-time Learning Support Assistant to work 25 hours weekly. The role involves leading a play-based curriculum and providing support for children, including those with additional needs. Grange Primary School is a 1.5 form entry primary school in Wickford with well-behaved pupils who are eager to learn and incredibly supportive parents and governors. At Grange Primary School, our aim is to create a welcoming and supportive ethos for staff and pupils.

Responsibilities
  • Leading a play-based curriculum
  • Supporting teaching of phonics/early reading
  • Delivering small group intervention activities to support those needing extra support
  • Supporting children's intimate care needs e.g. dressing, changing, supporting toileting across the school
  • Supporting SEND children with high support and/or medical needs, in order to enable them to access learning
  • Supporting children with physical and neurological disabilities to be able to access all classroom areas and to learn with their peers
Qualifications
  • A high standard of written and spoken English
  • A strong work ethic with flexibility to respond positively to challenges of day-to-day school life
  • A calm and motivated attitude with a clear understanding of the needs of all children - including children with additional needs
  • A willingness to undertake training in order to develop professional skills and knowledge, as well as to support specific needs of the children
