Job summary

A local education authority in Merthyr Tydfil is seeking a Pre-school Leader to oversee high-quality care for children aged 0-5. The role includes responsibility for managing staff and ensuring the safety and well-being of children, including those with additional learning needs. Candidates must provide evidence of essential qualifications, with Welsh language skills being a plus. This position is fixed term until March 2027, encompassing 32.5 hours per week over 39 weeks and 3 days per year.

Position Details
  • Salary: £31,537.00 - £33,699.00
  • Fixed Term until March 2027
  • 32.5 Hours (39 Weeks and 3 Days per year)
  • Grade 5 77.83% OF FULL TIME = £24,545 - £26,227 per annum
  • Location: Seren Bach Pre‑school; may be required to work at any one of the two Local Authority Flying Start provisions
Role Overview

The Pre‑school Leader will assume overall responsibility within the setting to promote high quality provision for children and to ensure safe, stimulating play for each individual child. The Leader will be responsible for the line management of staff and for all children including those with additional learning needs attending the setting. The leader will also be expected to satisfy the requirements set out in the service agreements with Flying Start.

Qualifications & Requirements

You will be required to provide evidence of all qualifications specified as essential.

Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
