A leading social housing provider in Birmingham is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. The role involves implementing and maintaining a reliable reporting platform, supporting operational staff in managing their own BI requirements, and ensuring adherence to data governance standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business Analytics or equivalent experience, along with strong SQL skills and the ability to communicate effectively. You will implement, maintain, and support a stable, reliable reporting platform to the business, identifying and developing improvement opportunities.
You will create and maintain key business-level BI suites and provide operational-level staff with the training and support they need to produce and manage their own BI, using approved tools.
You will implement, maintain and ongoing support of a data warehouse.
You will be working within the Digital directorate, this role is responsible for contributing to the introduction, management and regular review of a fit-for-purpose BI reporting platform sitting on a robust data warehouse/data lake. This will enable accurate, reliable reporting across the business, combining data from multiple sources.
You will lead on producing and maintaining a suite of standard reports using a consistent BI toolset and ensure reporting standards and data governance are followed.

You will need a degree-level qualification, or equivalent professional experience, in Business Analytics or related subject, although practical demonstrable experience is a higher requirement.
You will need good general or technical education beyond GCSE e.g. 2 or more A Levels/NVQ3 or vocabulary, verbal reasoning and numerical skills to the equivalent ability level.
You need to have experience of delivering technical business intelligence services in a corporate environment to a range of recipients.
You need to have experience of providing training and knowledge transfer to colleagues to support their learning and development.
You need to be pro-active, positive passion for delivering data and BI requirements with the ability and aptitude to inspire others.
You need to have the ability to deliver multiple pieces of work to strict deadlines with high levels of accuracy and quality.
You need to have the ability to communicate concepts and detail in imaginative, innovative and visual ways to engage varying audiences.
You need to have demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret data from multiple sources and communicate that analysis to a wide range of customers
Practical experience of requirement gathering and interpretation, and the ability to understand complex details described by non-technical users.
You need strong experience of using SQL to query and transform data.
