About the role

Riverside Primary School is a community primary school located in the village of Hullbridge. We are looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with a named pupil who has mobility challenges. The position is part-time, 27.5 hours per week during term time, with a fixed-term contract starting on 13th April 2026.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the pupil with movement around the school, positioning, and access to classroom activities.
  • Adapt learning tasks and the environment both inside and outside the classroom to meet the child’s needs.
  • Assist with personal care and physical assistance where required.
  • Promote independence, initiative and flexibility, while being sensitive to the pupil’s physical and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and other staff to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour, and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs, including minor first aid and welfare matters.
  • Support the use of ICT and consolidate pupils’ competence and independence with digital tools.
  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance and control of lesson materials and resources.
  • Supervise the pupil during specified periods, including break times, and escort them on educational visits.
  • Respect confidentiality and comply with all school health, safety and welfare policies.
Qualifications and experience
  • Experience supporting a child with physical or mobility needs (highly desirable).
  • Confidence in providing personal care and physical assistance.
  • Patience, empathy and a proactive approach to inclusive practice.
  • Adaptability and ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
