South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS FoundationTrust is looking to recruit a motivated and passionate consultantpaediatrician. The post is a substantive post, less than full time applicationswould also be welcomed.
The community paediatric department provides population-basedservices across South Tyneside and Sunderland and works very closely with ourmultidisciplinary teams, special schools and health centres helping to bringservices to the community. Applicants will be expected to have, or to obtainwithin 6 months of interview, a CCT in Paediatrics. Enquiries or arrangementfor a preliminary visit are welcome. Ourcommunity child health and disability teams run a wide range of comprehensiveservices supporting the care of children in the following areas; childdevelopment, looked after children, vulnerable children, adoption andfostering, safeguarding. It is therefore likely that the successful applicantcould have a variety of developed or developing skill sets and find afulfilling role within our department. This post will have a key focus on the cared for child and onNeurodisability.
Thedepartment has a strong commitment to service development and teaching andapplicants with shared enthusiasm for these areas are encouraged. Our team hasa broad range of expertise. The post holder would contribute to acute childprotection rota and there are opportunities to participate in the acute generalpaediatric rota if this was an area of interest. The postholder will join the existing team ofcommunity child health and neurodisability paediatric consultants as well asthe wider community paediatric team including specialist nurses, Cared forHealth Team, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupationaltherapists.
This is a replacement fourth community consultantpost. The department also has three consultants in paediatric neurodisabilityand 3 specialty Doctors /senior clinical fellows, allowing a spread of caseloadaccording to special interests and expertise. Area of interest to support the needs of the directorate.
The post holder is expectedto possess Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Healthand to be on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of taking up the post.
A satisfactory job plan andannual appraisal is essential. The post holder will be expected to develop theservice in keeping with local, regional and national guidance. Attendance atmandatory training such as fire safety is expected.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
