Position Summary

The Hall Manager is responsible for the efficient management of all facets of accommodation in the centre; this includes allocation (to regulatory standards of Welfare), damage inspections/reporting and accurate record keeping of occupants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
  • Maximise student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ensure the centre operates to the highest standards of Health & Safety, safeguarding and HR practices.
  • Meet and greet students upon arrival and show them to their accommodation.
  • Provide site tours and orientation for new staff and students.
  • Create welcome packs for groups.
  • Establish a rota to ensure students are in their rooms and lights are out by 23:30.
  • Maintain ultimate responsibility for Hall safety and welfare duties.
  • Carry out 24‑hour duty on a rota basis with other managers.
  • Handle complaints or problems relating to accommodation.
  • Maintain and submit weekly records of room allocations.
  • Sell travel cards to clients and keep records of all income (UCL only).
  • Update notice boards in the Halls and take them down at the end of summer.
  • Report any maintenance issues to college staff.
  • Ensure damages are kept to a minimum and follow procedures for damage that has occurred.
  • Ensure cleanliness standards are maintained and report complaints to the Centre Manager.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with the university representative.
  • Collect damage deposits on student arrivals.
  • Carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision.
  • Assist with lost keys and help students access rooms.

Please note that specific duties may vary with the needs of each Centre and may extend beyond those listed.

Qualifications & Training
  • A‑level or equivalent (Essential).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (Desirable).
  • Safeguarding Level 1 and 2 (Desirable).
Essential Criteria
  • Office/administration experience.
  • Experience in a role involving organisation, logistics or travel.
  • Ability to deal with complexity and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • High IT competency: Outlook & MS Office (specifically Excel).
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.

Working Week
  • 6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week).
  • All management roles are residential.
Remuneration

Gross weekly pay: From £778.57

(Basic weekly pay: £694.72 + holiday pay: £83.85)

Accommodation & Uniform

Free full board residential accommodation included.

All staff must wear the designated company uniform on duty, ensuring it is clean, presentable and complies with the dress code.
