As part of this framework, you will have the opportunity to work on both major and minor schemes, contributing to the successful delivery of projects that enhance the built environment. The SDF is particularly focused on delivering sustainable, efficient solutions, and you will have the chance to apply cutting-edge technologies and methods to ensure that projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
• Staffordshire Infrastructure Plus: Our partnership with Staffordshire County Council under this long-term contract has delivered over £100m worth of major transport infrastructure projects. The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Highways Engineer to support our Design and Development team. As a Civil Engineer, you will support the Senior Engineer and lead junior Engineers in the design and delivery of multiple highway projects ranging from junction improvements to new roads and bridges. Responsibilities include:

• To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks.
• The preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme. Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.
• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
• Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of workload.
• Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function.
• Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including out of hours working.

What you will bring to us:

• Relevant experience in highway engineering, particularly local roads and S278 layouts
• The ability to work in a commercial and customer focused way which achieves programme, meets performance targets and generates income
• Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff
• A good understanding of Manual for Streets, DMRB, other national standards, best practice guidance, local standards etc.
• A good understanding of the CDM regulations and their relevance to highway design
• The ability to support the preparation of briefs for fee quotes for delivery of services when required
• Can deliver on time, within budget and to the quality required
• Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team
