As a driver you will provide a safe and supportive transport experience to vulnerable clients, older people, children in care, and young people with varying degrees of learning, emotional and physical difficulties.

About you
- Hold a D1 licence
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Available to work on a split shift between core hours of 7‑10 am and 2‑5 pm, 30 hrs weekly.
- Flexible to the changing needs of the service.
- Approachable and caring attitude offering a warm welcome to passengers, families, carers and staff.
- Good understanding of your responsibilities in regard of Health and safety.
- Enhanced DBS will be required.
- A good level of physical ability is needed.
About the role
You will join a team that transports over 4,000 passengers to school, college or centres daily. As a driver you will support passengers ensuring their safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of their journey. You will need to support passengers on off‑transport and maintain a good level of physical ability.

Purpose of job – To transport vulnerable people of Leeds from their homes to various locations throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Transport older people, people with physical disabilities, mental health problems and learning difficulties to centres and luncheon clubs, assisting services users between home and the vehicle.
- Operate a flexible transport service, responding to changes in circumstances at short notice.
- Participate with Day Centre staff in outings to various locations as required.
- Undertake recreational activities at Day Centre to provide stimulation for members.
- Deliver Community meals, ensuring the collection and recording of cash payments as required.
- Deliver stationery, goods and materials – loading and unloading as needed.
- Clean and wash vehicles, perform routine maintenance and safety checks, and complete logs and records.
- Participate in training and development activities to keep knowledge and skills up‑to‑date.
- Undertake other duties as required by the Fleet Deployment Manager.
- Comply with all Leeds City Council and departmental policies, procedures and staff instructions, including Health and Safety.

- Drive with a valid D1 licence, maintaining route schedules and ensuring passenger safety.
- Communicate verbally and non‑verbally with service users, parents, carers and staff courteously.
- Understand and sympathise with the needs of the service user.
- Use own initiative to resolve minor problems.
- Write log sheets and reports accurately.
- Flexibility regarding changing hours or areas of work.
- Perform moving and handling tasks, including maneuvering wheelchair users to and from the vehicle.
