An educational trust in Watford is looking for part-time support staff to assist children facing social and emotional challenges. The role demands excellent communication and the initiative to foster independence in students. Suitable candidates will ideally possess a GCSE in English and Maths, although experience in similar roles is desirable but not essential. The position is fixed-term, contributing to a supportive and caring working environment that emphasizes staff development and well-being.
One of the part-time vacancies is for 20 hours per week - Monday to Friday (4 hours + 1 hour unpaid lunch per day). Fixed term until July 2026. Actual Salary pro rata = £11,616 - £12,175 p.a.
The second part-time vacancy is for 25 hours per week - Monday to Friday (5 hours + 1 hour unpaid lunch per day). Fixed term until July 2027. Actual Salary pro rata = £14,520 - £15,219 p.a.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and will be able to work closely with the class teacher, the SENCo, the SEN team and external advisors. You should be keen to learn, be able to work on your own initiative, and carry out advice consistently.
The successful candidates will have a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (C or above) and a high standard of written and spoken English.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form prior to interview.

The Selection Criteria document is critical in the process and sets out the requirements which the person appointed should have in order to perform the duties of the post satisfactorily and against which applicants will be assessed. The selection criteria will be used throughout the recruitment process as an objective test of assessing candidates at shortlisting, test and interview stages. Shortlisting will be completed by assessing against the advertised person specification. Our interviews will always include relevant questions relating to child protection and/or safeguarding, and will usually involve a child centred task.
