Job summary

A leading educational institution in Portsmouth is seeking a Nursery Practitioner to support the efficient operations of the Nursery. This role involves providing care and support to children, planning activities, and ensuring a safe environment. Ideal candidates will have a Level 3 Childcare Qualification and experience in a Nursery setting. The position is part-time at 30 hours per week with a competitive salary ranging from £17,985.43 to £18,496.86 per annum.

Hours of work: 30Hours per week, Part-Time, 38 Weeks per year, Permanent

About the role

The Nursery Practitioner will support the Nursery deputies and Nursery practitioners in ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the Nursery. This role involves providing care and support for all children attending the Nursery.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee and participate in children’s activities including planning and observations.
  • To assist the Nursery deputies in devising stimulating activities appropriate to ages and stages of the children and maintain children’s records.
  • To assist in maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for the children.
  • To actively participate in team meetings and discussions.
  • To ensure that all children are, at all times, acting and behaving safely.
  • To attend training as necessary and carry out any other duties reasonably required by the Nursery manager.
Qualifications
  • Level 3 Childcare Qualification or working towards
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development
  • Experience of working in a Nursery or similar environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the prevent agenda
  • Enthusiasm and drive
  • Ability to work under pressure
