Job Description

Sir Bobby Robson School is seeking a Teacher of Music and Creative Digital Technologies to help lead the next phase of their music curriculum offer. This is an exciting opportunity to join SBRS, a specialist SEMH school within the Unity Schools Partnership. At SBRS, we are creating something truly special and we are looking for a passionate Teacher of Music and Creative Technologies to help us as we move forward. As a small SEMH school with classes of just 6 to 8 pupils supported by both a teacher and a TA, we know the profound impact that music, creativity and technology can have on our learners.

Teaching and Curriculum

You will:

  • deliver high‑quality Music teaching across KS2–KS4, adapting learning to the needs of pupils with SEMH
  • use existing curriculum planning (including CUSP curriculum) to implement and evaluate a well‑sequenced music curriculum that integrates performance, composition, appreciation and music technology
  • promote musical curiosity, creativity, resilience and positive wellbeing through inclusive, practical learning
  • use music and music technology to support emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning
  • develop pathways for music accreditation, including both performance and technology‑based awards
  • reach a second curriculum subject, likely IT, tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate and through wider support in the trust
  • use assessment, observation and reflective practice to inform planning and next steps
  • take responsibility for a form group, providing daily pastoral support and building positive relationships. This will also include delivering planned PSHE and RSE curriculum to your form group
  • work closely with parents and carers, fostering strong relationships that support progress, attendance and engagement
Wider Music, Community and Enrichment

You will:

  • lead the development of the school’s wider music and creative arts offer
  • establish and maintain strong links with local music hubs, arts organisations, studios and community groups
  • coordinate enrichment opportunities including joining CUSP music day, ensembles, workshops, recording projects, live performances at summer/Christmas fayres and cross‑school collaboration
  • identify and support wider musical skills, by potentially looking at individual and group music tuition in line with UK-based, Ofqual‑accredited music examination boards
  • promote inclusive access to music for pupils who may face barriers due to SEMH needs or personal circumstances
  • support families in accessing opportunities beyond the school day and throughout transition to post‑16 education
About you

You will be a skilled practitioner with a deep commitment to inclusive practice and the transformative power of music, creativity and technology. You will bring strong classroom expertise, the ability to build trusting relationships, and a passion for supporting pupils with SEMH needs to flourish socially, emotionally and academically. You will combine confident subject knowledge with the creativity to design engaging, practical learning experiences that help pupils regulate, communicate and express themselves. Above all, you will be driven by the belief that every child deserves access to rich cultural experiences, high‑quality teaching and opportunities that expand your sense of possibility.
