Job summary

A care provider in Edinburgh seeks compassionate staff to support residents in their daily activities and ensure their dignity and rights. Employees will plan diverse activities tailored to residents' needs and uphold safety and confidentiality standards. The position requires regular communication with managers and nursing staff while fostering a respectful team environment. Competitive rates from £13.12 per hour are available based on shifts.

  • Provide activities for residents in the nursing home.
  • Uphold residents’ rights to choice, privacy and dignity.
  • Communicate information to relevant personnel.
  • Keep up‑to‑date documentation as required by company policies and the regulating bodies.
  • Uphold residents’ participation strategy.
  • Promote and show loyalty to the company and residents, both inside and outside the nursing home, and respect confidentiality.
  • Treat colleagues with respect and ensure teamwork is good.
  • Plan activities, taking into consideration the varying needs and abilities of the residents.
  • Discuss plans with residents, either individually or in groups.
  • Seek feedback, comments and suggestions at resident meetings and from families/visitors.
  • Meet regularly with Manager/Deputy to discuss plans and seek advice on financial matters.
  • Participate in Entertainment Committee meetings to set out longer‑term plans.
  • Communicate with trained nurses/carers re intended activities and write them in the appropriate place, e.g. diary/‘communication book’.
  • Feed back any concerns about residents’ condition to nursing staff.
  • With the agreement of senior staff, involve carers in activities.
  • Communicate and negotiate outings with minibus drivers, ensuring that the correct resident:staff ratio is adhered to outside the home.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and adhere to safe working practices.
  • Adhere to company uniform policy.
  • Use all equipment safely, keeping it clean and in good working order.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain correctly written records as required by the company and statutory bodies.
Salary and Hours

Dunblane: From £14.99 ph (base) – £27,281 pa (based on 35 hours pw).

Dunblane: From £13.12 ph (base) – £20,467 pa (based on average 30 hours pw).

Gullane: From £14.05 ph – £9,132 pa (based on 12.5 hours pw).

Part‑time receptionist (3 weeks Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri 9‑am – 5‑pm; 1 week Wed, Thu, Fri 9‑am – 5‑pm).

Shifts across the week (08:00 – 14:30 or 08:00 – 16:00).

Part‑time 3 or 4 days per week 08:00 – 14:00.
