Job summary

A local authority in the UK seeks a Lead Officer to oversee operations in a Control Room, managing a team that monitors Tunnel Traffic and CCTV. Ideal candidates will have qualifications in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, extensive knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems, and experience in a Traffic Control Room. This is a full-time temporary position requiring availability for a 24/7 shift system, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Suitable for job share and temporary for 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a team that monitors and controls Tunnel Traffic and CCTV.
• Assisting the Section Leader with the day-to-day running of the Traffic & Tunnel Control Centre.
• Maintaining service delivery and strategically managing traffic movement on the network.

Skills

Suitable qualifications e.g., GCSEs and/or an ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Operation & Knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems

Operation & Knowledge of Fault management systems

Significant time spent working within CCTV and Traffic Control Room environment

Experience of Traffic Signal Timing and Access Control

Dealing with the public both verbally and in written format

Advanced ICT Computer skills

Education

GCSEs and/or ONC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

As part of the wider Transport team in County Hall, staff in the Control Room deliver and implement a 24/7 service, providing a safe, informed and accessible city for all road users. This includes using systems such as City Centre Access, Tunnel Scada and CCTV. We are looking for someone exceptional to support management with leading this team with innovation, dedication and commitment, including supporting a future move to a brand new location.

About the job

The successful applicant will support control room operations as required to maintain service delivery and strategically maintain traffic movement on the network

The Lead Officer will be responsible for:

• Supervising a team of operators that monitor and control all Tunnel Traffic, City Centre Access and CCTV
• existing and new Intelligent Transport Systems
• assisting the Section Leader with the day to day running of the Traffic & Tunnel Control Centre.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate should have the following:

• Suitable qualifications e.g., GCSEs and/or an ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; relevant industry qualifications e.g., Security Industry Authority CCTV licence
• Operation & Knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems
• Operation & Knowledge of Fault management systems
• Significant time spent working within CCTV and Traffic Control Room environment
• Experience of Traffic Signal Timing and Access Control
• Dealing with the public both verbally and in written format Advanced ICT Computer skills

Special Circumstances

The post holder must:

• be able to work additional hours as and when required
• be able to participate in a 24/7 shift system which can include Bank Holidays and weekends
• Full valid driving licence also required
