A national charity for blind sports is looking for an Independent Director in Finance. This unremunerated role will support financial oversight and guide the Board on financial matters. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with charity and company law, monitoring financial health, and contributing strategic direction. The position offers an opportunity to impact the lives of individuals with sight loss positively. Meetings occur at least four times a year, either via Zoom or at offices in Leamington Spa.

British Blind Sport (BBS) is the National Disability Sport Organisation that represents blind and partially sighted people in sport. Our vision is to empower all people living with sight loss to get active and enjoy sport, whether it is taking their first steps or helping to secure talent pathways to encourage individuals to fulfil their potential. Working across both the sight loss and sport sector, we work with strategic partner organisations to fulfil our aim and, by doing so, we positively impact the lives of hundreds of people every year.
About the role: To support this work and to help us to demonstrate our commitment to VI sport we are looking for an Independent Director to help support the Finance Director with the responsibility for Finance, Audit and Accounting.
This is an unremunerated role however reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
Meetings are held via Zoom or at our offices in Leamington Spa and sometimes we utilise the meeting facilities of our partners based in London and Birmingham. There is an expectation that board members will attend a minimum of 4 meetings per annum.
