Job overview

We are looking for a Part-time Housekeeper / Cleaner to join our team at Bicester Community Hospital to provide a safe and clean environment for patients and staff across our inpatient and non-ward areas. The role involves housekeeping duties as well as preparing and serving cook/chill meals for patients.

Bicester Community Hospital provides inpatient rehabilitation and palliative care for people no longer requiring acute care. The hospital has 12 beds and a dedicated team of nurses, and occupational therapists and is supported by GPs and gerontologists (doctors specialising in the care of older people).

We’re looking for team players who are flexible and reliable, with good interpersonal and communication skills. You’ll be a key part of improving our patient experience by providing a high‑quality housekeeping service ensuring a clean and safe environment for all. You’ll also be carrying out terminal and enhanced cleaning.

Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification however we can provide training required for all aspects of this role so please do consider applying, even if you don’t have a lot of experience in this area.

Main duties of the job
  • Carry out daily cleaning routines as scheduled.
  • Conduct terminal and enhanced cleans as per local procedures
  • Handle and remove waste in line with segregation processes and procedures
  • Unpack and stack all linen and laundry.
  • Regenerate cook/chill meals recording the temperatures of food at stages defined as appropriate within the relevant wards.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment, regeneration equipment and all surfaces are clean at all times.
  • Set up dining room, beverage/food trolleys as and when required
  • Ensure food is supplied to wards at the correct times for service and all waste food is discarded and recorded immediately after service.
  • Ensure the dining room is cleaned after each meal.
  • Ensure all food items are correctly stored and there are adequate supplies.
  • Follow food hygiene regulations.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during absences.
  • Ensure cleaning trolleys are fully stocked with sufficient cleaning materials, equipment to clean each area.
  • Ensure all cleaning materials are used as directed and secured securely and safely in compliance with COSHH regulations.
