Job description
Company description

With a history that dates back over 80 years, Starcom is a global communications planning and media leader. We are an agency still grounded in our founding principle that people are at the centre of all we do. Each day, we apply this belief to harness the transformative power of data and technology to inspire and move people and business forward. With more than 7,000 employees in over 100 offices around the world, we are the flagship Publicis Media agency that uses our ‘Power of One’ business model, with teams that span multiple disciplines across clients such as Aldi, P&G, P&O Ferries, Primark, Samsung, Stellantis, and Visa.

We place a huge focus on our People and have driven flagship D&I and L&D programmes within Publicis Media; our goal is to help every individual reach their fullest potential and we encourage everyone to make “Brave Plays” in how they approach their work and their own career development. As a result, we have an exceptionally energized and committed talent base, all of us proud of our welcoming and supportive culture, as evidenced by our recognition as one of Campaign’s Best Places to Work for three years in a row (2021, 2022 and 2023) and most excitingly, Media Week's Agency of the Year 2023!

Overview

If you’re the kind of person who can look at a messy Amazon data set and instantly see the story behind it — and the growth opportunity hiding in plain sight — keep reading.

Publicis Media is growing fast, with new, ambitious clients joining our roster. We’re looking for a data-driven marketer and retail media strategist to lead best-in-class Amazon analytics, fuel smarter activations, and unlock performance across the full Amazon ecosystem.

As Commerce Analytics Associate Director, you’ll sit at the heart of our UK Commerce team, working closely with Data Tech & Tools and our Retail Media specialists. Your mission: turn Amazon data into clear, actionable insight that improves retail media performance and helps our clients win in category.

This is a high-impact role on a category-leading, multi-million-budget client. You’ll shape strategy, guide optimisation, and bring new insight solutions to life — not just report on what happened yesterday.

Responsibilities
Data analysis & insight leadership
  • Use proprietary Publicis tools and Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) to analyse Amazon performance and deliver outcome-driven insights.
  • Produce recommendations that move KPIs — from pricing and promotions to inventory and retail readiness.
  • Build logic structures and consolidate multiple datasets (including APIs) to ensure automation and data integrity.
  • Spot emerging client challenges and propose new insight modules to keep our tools market-relevant and future-proof.
Technical deployment & solutions
  • Partner with Technology, Analytics and Commerce teams to deploy technical solutions into client ecosystems.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing insight extraction, ensuring clients get value quickly and consistently.
Stakeholder communication & client growth
  • Present findings to internal teams and client stakeholders, translating data into strategy and in-flight optimisations.
  • Upskill client teams and internal partners on Publicis and platform tools, helping insight become habitual, not occasional.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for

We want someone enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and comfortable in a fast-moving environment — someone who’s equal parts analyst, strategist, and trusted client partner.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong experience across the Amazon ecosystem, including activation, reporting and data platforms (Vendor Central, Amazon Ads, AMC, SQL).
  • Advanced data analysis capability and a sharp eye for detail.
  • A confident, consultative approach to client management and stakeholder engagement.
  • A deep understanding of eCommerce, retail optimisation, profitability levers, and how to translate data into growth.
  • A methodical, organised working style with the ability to adapt and problem-solve in a matrixed organisation.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with AWS infrastructure.
  • Background in FMCG.
  • Familiarity with digital shelf tools and supply chain metrics.
  • Python experience.
  • Exposure to agile application development — or the curiosity to learn.

  • HELP@HAND BENEFITS 24/7 helpline to support you on a personal and professional level. Access to remote GPs, mental health support and CBT. Wellbeing content and lifestyle coaching.
  • FAMILY FRIENDLY POLICIES We provide 26 weeks of full pay for the following family milestones: Maternity, Adoption, Surrogacy and Shared Parental Leave.
