What you’ll be doing

As our Buyer, you’ll manage the end-to-end procurement of direct goods, materials, and services, ensuring the right balance of cost, quality, and delivery.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing direct goods and services in line with business requirements.
  • Evaluating and selecting suppliers based on technical capability, pricing, lead times, and compliance.
  • Managing purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers to support collaboration and performance.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues relating to quality, delivery, or pricing.
  • Conducting supplier reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure adherence to technical and operational standards.
  • Working closely with engineering, production, quality, inventory, and logistics teams to ensure technical specifications are met.
  • Analysing market trends and pricing to identify cost saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Supporting inventory optimisation and reducing excess or obsolete stock.
  • Ensuring all procurement activity complies with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records and supporting reporting and audit requirements.
What you’ll bring

You’ll be someone who enjoys working at pace, takes ownership, and is passionate about delivering value through procurement.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Demonstrable experience (typically gained over around five years) in technical procurement of direct goods and services within an electronics manufacturing or production environment.
  • A strong understanding of technical specifications, manufacturing processes, and supply chain principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • A proactive, detail oriented approach with strong analytical capability.
  • Experience using procurement and ERP systems such as Dynamics D365, SAP, or similar.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across departments.
Qualifications:
  • CIPS qualification (or equivalent) – essential.
