A local arts organization in Wolverhampton is offering the New Producers Programme, a free ten-week training course to assist aspiring producers in developing skills in project planning, budgeting, and marketing. Participants will receive mentoring and a bursary for their time. Ideal for individuals over 18 living or working in the Black Country, this course seeks creative minds to contribute to arts projects.

New Producers offers an introduction to the craft of producing in a professional context by de-mystifying the financial, administrative and organisational aspects of making cultural projects happen. The programme provides knowledge and insight into the practicalities of making, funding, distributing and promoting work – whether it’s yours or someone else’s.
The course aims to nurture and develop those interested in making art happen – whether emerging producers, administrators, artists, creative practitioners or community champions. The programme is designed to arm participants with transferable and entrepreneurial skills to turn ideas into reality.
New Producers will consist of 10 sessions, taking place over 10 weeks. Sessions will be in-person at Newhampton Arts Centre and offer a safe space to learn, develop, and discuss ideas while building professional networks. The curriculum covers: articulating ideas, project planning, budgeting, income generation and fundraising, marketing and social media, business management, inclusive working, selling work, and evaluation. Content will be refined once the cohort is confirmed.
We are looking for people of all ages (over 18) and backgrounds who are living and/or working in the Black Country (Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall). You will need to be able to get to NAC for in-person sessions. A degree is not required, but some experience in the field is helpful.
New Producers is a free course. Participants receive a bursary to cover time to take part in New Producers 2025. If accepted onto New Producers 2025, you’ll be part of a group with the following benefits:
We regularly present at NAC live music of all genres; club nights; theatre, dance, visual art exhibitions; poetry slams, literature and spoken word; stand-up comedy; film screenings. If your passion and ideas match, this course is for you.

New Producers is delivered in-person and hosted at Newhampton Arts Centre. Attendance at all sessions is expected. If you cannot attend a date, please state it in your application. If you miss two sessions you may be asked to give up your space to an applicant on the waiting list.
