**Compensation**$700.00 per credit hour**Compensation Type:**Exempt**Employment Type:**Adjunct/Part Time Faculty (Fixed Term)**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**4**Grade:****Department:**Instruction**Position Summary**An adjunct instructor is appointed on a term contract for instructional, temporary and part-time assignments. They are not assigned to other responsibilities such as professional service or college service. They have no right to reappointment. Persons appointed at this rank will vary in minimal academic qualifications but generally shall have a relevant doctoral or equivalent terminal degree to teach at the upper division and graduate level, and a master’s degree for lower division courses. All degrees shall be from accredited institutions or from internationally reputable and recognized institutions. Exceptions to these requirements may be made by the Provost upon presentation of evidence of a record of experience or other credentials that indicate academic degree equivalence. Adjunct Faculty members can only serve as Faculty Senators if they teach during the current semester or have taught within the last fiscal year.**Duties & Responsibilities**This position is responsible for instructing students on a per course basis for English academic courses necessary for the pursuit of certificates and associates degree in various disciplines.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Prepares and presents course descriptions, lesson plans, and classroom lectures, and implements techniques to facilitate student-active learning.* Prepares and grades tests and quizzes; develops handouts and other learning aids.* Participates in program and curriculum development and outcome assessments at the conclusion of each semester to the Academic Director.* Provides one-to-one student supervision and/or counseling, advising and tutoring.* Analyzes and documents student progress; coordinates and schedules student tutors as appropriate.* Participates in student recruitment, retention and placement efforts.* Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES* Knowledge of adult-learning theory, curriculum development and classroom, laboratory, and field presentation techniques* Knowledge of counseling and advising methods and techniques* Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to designated field(s) of study* Basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices* Proficient in operating equipment and performing work related to designated field(s) of study* Ability to prepare and present classroom lectures and class work* Proficient in the use of standard office equipment and applications including Microsoft Suites* Knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or other comparable platform.* Proficient in reporting metrics for the department and college each semester of teaching.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL FACTORS* Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.* The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.* The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditionsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES* Masters of English* Experience teaching composition is preferred.* Three years of practicing experience in the designated field is required.* One to three years of experience with distance education is desired.**As a part of your application, upload letter of interest, current resume, and official documentation confirming education.****EEO STATEMENT:** LCC is an equal opportunity employer.The Collaborative for Higher Education Shared Services (CHESS) supports independently governed member colleges by sharing tools, talent, and best practices so that we are laser focused on providing a world-class student experience leading to success for all students.
