Are you passionate about delivering highly specialist psychological services that support rehabilitation, adjustment, and long-term wellbeing?

MCS Group is recruiting for Belfast Health & Social Care Trust to appoint a Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a) within their Cochlear Implant and Tinnitus Service.

This is a rare opportunity to join a respected, forward-thinking Clinical Health Psychology team supporting adults adjusting to complex auditory conditions, hearing loss, tinnitus, cochlear implantation, and long-term health challenges. You will play a central role in shaping an evidence-based, person-centred service that significantly enhances quality of life for patients and their families.

The Role:
  • Deliver highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and individually tailored or group interventions to adults, families, and carers within the service.
  • Take a clinical leadership role in developing, supervising, and coordinating high-quality psychological care across the Cochlear Implant and Tinnitus pathway.
  • Provide clinical supervision and coordination for junior psychology staff and offer placements and supervision to trainee clinical psychologists.
  • Strengthen psychological practice across the wider multidisciplinary team through teaching, training, consultation, and specialist psychological guidance.
  • Lead and contribute to therapeutic group programmes (including ACT-based interventions) supporting adjustment, coping, and long-term condition management.
  • Drive service quality through outcomes monitoring, clinical audit, research, and service evaluation, helping shape a responsive, modern clinical service.
  • Maintain high professional standards through CPD, adherence to BPS/HCPC guidance, and active engagement in supervision, policy implementation, and clinical governance.
The Person:
  • Professional Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and current HCPC registration.
  • Eligible for Chartered membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Substantive post-qualification experience in adult mental health or clinical health psychology.
What's in it for you?
  • Band 8a salary and benefits.
  • Opportunity to work in a nationally recognised specialist service.
  • Supportive MDT environment with excellent opportunities for professional development and clinical leadership experience.
  • Highly meaningful clinical work with a major impact on patient well being.
