New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Asset Delivery team deliver Yorkshire Water’s major asset investment projects and programmes and are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Under our Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) programme we will support a programme of giga project capital investment across Yorkshire and the wider UK. The DPC Assurance and Controls Manager will be an integral member of the PMO leadership team and the DPC leadership team and will play a critical role in the set-up of the DPC PMO and the longer term success of the programme through establishing a holistic and scalable approach to Project, Program and Business Risk Management.

The DPC PMO will be closely aligned to the Asset Delivery PMO which sits within the Asset Delivery Directorate at Yorkshire Water. It will also work to fulfil and adhere to the needs of RAPID (the Water Industry joint regulatory body governing the DPC strategic programme).

Where you fit in:

As our DPC PMO Assurance and Controls Manager you will:

  • Lead the DPC Project Control team in developing and implementing a fully integrated performance approach and ensure that financial forecasts, schedules and reports are aligned.
  • Drive the application of proportionate project control processes across the DPC programme to meet RAPID and YW goals
  • Lead and develop programme and project health reporting, providing appropriate challenge and support in generating solutions to improve performance.
  • Facilitate working sessions with RAPID, other utility companies and with YW stakeholders to agree success criteria of Project Control functions
  • Work with the DPC leadership to roll out and monitor compliance with the project control processes including financial forecasting.
  • Coordinate Programme status reports and measure progress of key metrics, ensuring that the data is accurate.
  • Working closely with all DPC and YW Stakeholders to ensure consistency, best practice and continuous improvement is realised.
  • Proactive approach to identifying potential threats to project/programme performance
  • Developing best practice and innovation and sharing the learning with the Asset Delivery PMO to drive maturity, supporting embedment.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • Experience in working on PIF & Giga projects in a PMO or EPC environment across full life cycle
  • Detailed knowledge of project control best practices and procedures
  • Exhibited track record in project delivery from concept to handover
  • Practitioner or certified user of Prima-Vera, Cost Management tools, SQRA Risk systems
  • The ability to analyse and articulate key messages from performance data
  • Experience of developing and implementing detailed reports
  • Experience implementing Risk management and/or Change management processes.
  • Experience of tracking and reporting project cost profiles and knowledge of financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent people leadership skills
  • Ability to challenge undesired behaviours appropriately
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use multiple systems
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the wider teams
