This is a unique opportunity to transform how children, young people, families, and professionals access mental health support.

As the first point of clinical contact, you will offer timely assessments of need, provide advice and signposting, and ensure safe triage to the most appropriate service pathway. You will exercise advanced clinical judgment and decision-making skills, working collaboratively across health, education, and social care systems.

CYPMH Dorset is entering an exciting period of growth, with new investments enabling us to enhance our services in line with Thrive principles. This role will evolve as we develop, beginning with supporting existing teams from a temporary base during the transition. Positions are pan-Dorset, and the future service will include extended operational hours as we expand.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build skills, influence new initiatives, and grow professionally. We are looking for adaptable, positive individuals who are eager to help shape our future and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Main duties of the job

The ECP will have strong, demonstrable clinical experience of working therapeutically with children and young people with mental health presentations and their families. The post holder will work cohesively alongside the Team Leaders, Clinical Lead and Clinical Service Manager and other ECP in providing robust clinical leadership, supporting the team with complex cases, hold a caseload within their sphere of professional and clinical competence, contribute to multi-agency meetings by providing expert clinical input and promoting the role of CAMHS. The post holder will provide inspirational clinical leadership to the team, promoting positive outcomes for the young people of Dorset by ensuring that the service provides high quality interventions and offering.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Receive and respond to referrals into CYPMH via the Integrated Front Door.
  • Apply evidence-based clinical judgment to assess needs and formulate care plans.
  • Escalate high-risk cases and ensure robust risk management.
  • Provide specialist mental health advice and consultation to professionals.
  • Champion integrated working across agencies and contribute to service development.
