Commercial Banking division has a rich heritage of supporting businesses and the economic prosperity of the nation, and you can make a real impact in how this is done. **What you’ll do**As Lead Software Engineer you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our success. This is a leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with a great passion for coaching and developing people, including advocating team wellbeing.* Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.* Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build and deliver maintainable, testable, observable and resilient software systems.* Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.* Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live.* Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.* Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.* Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.* Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings.* Accept 24\*7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance.* Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations.**What you’ll need*** Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.* Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with at least two of the following languages and frameworks (React, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases)* Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud.* Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle.* Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making.
