This position ensures delivery of accurate, high-quality Medical Education, Healthcare Marketing, and Pharmaceutical Promotional materials across brands while managing workflows, resources, and priorities.

Position Overview

The ASM/NL fosters strong internal relationships and promotes effective collaboration across Creative, Project Management, Print Production, Editorial, and Account Services. Acting as both a Studio leader and hands‑on Creative Production Artist, this role bridges the gap between creative intent and flawless execution by ensuring brand consistency and regulatory compliance across all deliverables.
This individual must combine strong production craftsmanship with leadership agility, guiding production artists and ensuring the integrity of every asset within fast‑paced, regulated agency workflows.

Competency – Brand and Studio Knowledge
  • Enforce brand guidelines to ensure visual and tonal consistency across all deliverables.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in both print and digital production, including file preparation, layout design, mechanical builds, and typography.
  • Serve as a hands‑on Creative Production Artist when required by executing complex mechanicals, refining layouts, and ensuring all assets meet client and FDA/OPDP standards.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure creative and technical alignment on deliverables, timelines, and regulatory expectations.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat). Working knowledge of XD, Figma, Workfront, Ziflow is preferred.
Production & Execution
  • Oversee daily and nightly execution of Studio work, including mechanical builds, prepress setup, QC, final file delivery, and version updates.
  • Translate approved creative concepts into precise, production‑ready files for both print and digital campaigns while acting as the senior production artist during critical deadlines or off‑hours.
  • Support multiple therapeutic brands and audience segments such as HCP, patient, caregiver, and payer.
  • Coordinate with Art Directors, Copy, and Print Production for specifications, dielines, and release preparation.
  • Lead the nightly 5:15 PM meeting to assign and monitor project deliverables, secure support, and elevate issues as needed.
  • Prepare nightly status reports for Studio management to ensure shift‑to‑shift continuity and transparency.
  • Perform hands‑on updates, resizing, and mechanical refinements while maintaining compliance with brand, regulatory, and MLR standards.
  • Attend IKOM and Prepro meetings as needed to represent Studio interests.
  • Provide guidance and QC for production artists’ work to ensure precision, efficiency, and brand integrity before final submission.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of workflows, routing systems, and version control processes.
Time Management
  • Review, prioritize, and assign incoming work based on project deadlines, client needs, and team capacity.
  • Balance leadership duties with hands‑on production by actively contributing to or refining creative files.
  • Triage work requests during the night shift, ensuring quick turnaround while maintaining accuracy.
  • Communicate resourcing needs and workflow bottlenecks to the Sr. Director, Studio in real time.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director and Studio Manager to plan for workload surges around launches and congresses, proactively adjusting staffing and production schedules.
Organization
  • Maintain Studio server organization and enforce proper file naming, archiving, and storage conventions.
  • Ensure consistent version control and seamless file accessibility between day and night teams.
  • Drive adherence to workflow processes to minimize risk and rework.
Problem Solving / Judgment
  • Make sound decisions under pressure and adjust priorities as deadlines shift.
  • Collaborate with Studio leadership to identify, propose, and implement process improvements.
  • Serve as the key point of contact and problem solver during the night shift, ensuring smooth cross‑shift collaboration.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot production challenges including color inconsistencies, layout conflicts, and digital rendering issues while applying both creative and technical problem‑solving skills.
  • Build strong working relationships with all team members through clear, respectful communication.
  • Provide mentorship and real‑time feedback to production artists to foster skill development and encourage a culture of excellence and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Communications, Graphic Design, or related creative field preferred)
  • 5–8+ years of experience in creative production or Studio operations, preferably within advertising, medical communications, or healthcare marketing
  • Proven experience leading design and production workflows independently
  • Expertise in print and digital production, with strong understanding of prepress, mechanicals, responsive design, and asset delivery
  • Strong foundation in creative production artistry and the ability to execute, review, and optimize deliverables while maintaining compliance and brand consistency
  • Exceptionally organized, detail‑oriented, and collaborative; excellent communicator and critical thinker
  • Ability to manage high‑volume workloads in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven settings
  • Willingness to work evening hours regularly; flexibility for weekend or launch‑related work as required
  • Commitment to quality, precision, and continuous improvement within regulated creative environments
