Fire Damper Engineer
Job summary
A regional engineering company is seeking a Fire Damper Engineer to perform installation and maintenance of fire and smoke dampers across the UK. This full-time, field-based role requires mechanical knowledge, practical skills, and a clean UK driving licence. Candidates should be self-motivated, reliable, and able to maintain high safety standards while traveling for jobs. A recognized fire damper inspection qualification is beneficial.

- Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including ventilation systems.
- Recognised fire damper inspection qualification is beneficial.
- Willingness to travel and stay away for jobs where necessary.
Responsibilities
- Handling tools of various types, including heavy equipment, and ensuring safe set-up.
- Performing testing, maintenance, and installation of fire and smoke damper systems.
- Accurately reporting all works using EDSB's reporting platform.
Skills
Scenic Prop and Design is looking for Fire Damper Engineers to travel regionally across the UK for testing, maintenance, and installation of fire and smoke dampers. This is a field‑based full‑time role.
- Handling tools of various types, including heavy equipment, and ensuring safe set‑up.
- Performing physical activities such as testing, maintenance, and installation of a wide range of fire and smoke damper systems.
- Adhering to safety guidelines while on the job site.
- Ensuring all tools and equipment are kept clean and in good repair.
- Removing debris and waste from the site.
- Ensuring specifications are met, including industry best practice, manufacturer literature, and standard product details.
- Accurately reporting all works using EDSB's reporting platform.
- Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including ventilation systems.
- Good practical skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in the passive fire & fire stopping industry (beneficial).
- Recognised fire damper inspection qualification.
- Manual dexterity and coordination skills.
- Physical strength and stamina.
- Strong work ethic.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Reliability and initiative.
- Willingness to go the extra mile.
- Excellent timekeeping and time‑management skills.

- Full clean UK driving licence.
08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. Salary will be discussed at interview stage.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo BS7858 Employment Screening and an Enhanced DBS check.
