Job summary
A game development studio is seeking a skilled Material Artist / Reviewer to work on a freelance basis. You will review materials created in Substance Designer by external vendors, ensuring they meet visual quality and technical standards. The role is remote, but candidates must be located in specific Canadian provinces and available to work West Coast hours. Strong experience with procedural material creation and Unreal Engine is essential for success in this position.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in material artist or reviewer role.
- Strong knowledge of Substance Designer and procedural material creation.
- Understanding of material optimization for real-time rendering.
- Experience with a shipped title, console or PC.
- Excellent communication and feedback delivery skills.
Responsibilities
- Review materials created in Substance Designer by external vendors.
- Provide actionable, detailed feedback to ensure adherence to style guides.
- Integrate approved materials into the engine.
- Collaborate with technical artists to maintain pipeline efficiency.
- Troubleshoot material issues.
