The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, a relevant degree, and a commitment to student success. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will become part of a thriving, experienced, well-resourced and supportive department.
The Sociology department offers the following courses: A-Level (approx. 600 students). A small number of students complete the AS qualification.
The department comprises of 7 full-time staff members.
We follow the AQA specification. In Y12 students complete the following topics: Education, Research Methods, Families and Households.
In Y13 students complete the following topics: Crime and Deviance, Beliefs in Society, Sociological Theory
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for a teacher, with the ability to enthuse and innovate, to join our friendly and well established Sociology department.
The Sociology department is looking for an excellent classroom teacher, with a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, with a relevant degree and teaching qualification (if no teaching qualification is held must be willing to work towards this). The successful candidate should be able to display a high level of skill in the management of learning with a commitment to a student-centred approach to the learning process. You should have an awareness and understanding of current developments in the subject area, the ability to manage student progress and achievement, and have a high level of organisational and administrative skills. You should have the ability to set and achieve high standards for yourself, colleagues, and students.
You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Hours: Between full time and 0.5 fte – We will always try to accommodate the preference of the best candidate(s).
Salary: Paid on the Sixth Form College’s Salary Structure pro to £33,465 to £51,714 per annum (dependent upon experience). For an outstanding candidate the college will consider a ‘golden hello’ recruitment payment.
