Technical and Operations# Staff Laboratory TechnicianLocation+ Wallingford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom**Job Description****Wallingford, Oxfordshire** | **On-site | Full-time | 37.5 hours/week****Staff Laboratory Technician**, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team working hands-on with soil and rock samples to produce accurate, reliable results that help shape the world around us.This is an on-site role in our modern laboratory, where you’ll work closely with technicians, engineers, and team leaders. You’ll report to a Team Leader within your testing area and contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence. Whether you're just starting out or looking to grow your technical skills, this is a great opportunity to build a meaningful career in geoscience.**Your Role and Responsibilities*** Perform a variety of laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, following client specifications and industry standards.* Accurately record and calculate test data using spreadsheets and data logging systems.* Ensure all testing is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards.* Collaborate with team leaders and quality engineers to ensure timely and compliant data delivery.* Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, keeping accurate records of checks and servicing.* Support the lab’s accreditation to ISO 17025 by upholding rigorous quality procedures.* Contribute to a positive QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) culture through active participation and awareness.**What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role*** 5+ GCSEs (or equivalent), ideally with English, Maths, and Science.* Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with attention to detail in data handling and documentation.* Basic IT skills, including confidence using Excel and digital data systems.* A proactive, safety-conscious mindset and willingness to learn new testing techniques.* Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.*Who we are* *What we offer*Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds.
