Are you a senior R&D chemist that's looking to take a step up in your career and make a real difference? We're working with a leading sustainability firm to find a Lead Chemist to help oversee their technical team. If you have a passion for making a positive impact and seeing your work translated into real world applications, this is the job for you.

What You'll Be Doing

You will help to design and lead their experimental programmes to ensure maximum efficiency and results are achieved, part of this will entail you mentoring and developing the junior scientists and technicians below you to help foster a strong technical team with a health culture. You will also be expected to represent the client in grant discussions, university and industry collaborations, industry forums and other technical discussions. Because of this, willingness to travel to other sites within the UK and EU is essential.

What You'll Bring
Essential
  • PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science
  • 8+ years R&D experience in inorganic chemistry, materials, or mineral systems
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior or leadership role at a startup company
  • Proven experimental design and data analysis expertise
  • Hands-on experience with analytical tools
  • Track record of mentoring and leading technical staff
  • Experience taking technology from lab to pilot-scale
  • Excellent communication skills in fast-paced, collaborative settings
Desirable
  • Background in construction chemical manufacturing and/or carbon reduction technologies
  • Familiarity with LCA, EPDs, or environmental regulations
  • Experience with grant writing or scale-up environments
