The Volunteer Centre Harlow seeks Befriender Volunteers to provide phone support and companionship to community members facing loneliness. No previous experience is needed, as training is provided, and volunteers can tailor their availability. Join a team committed to making a positive difference in people's lives.

Would you like to help members of your community feel safe and cared for?
As a ‘Telephone Befriender’, you will provide much needed friendship over the phone to local residents who have reached out to our service. Our aim is to combat loneliness and isolation, which has been proven to negatively impact both mental and physical health. We need your help to achieve this.
We would love you to join our friendly team and become a Befriender for someone who fits your preferred criteria, such as gender, age, location, and interests, to encourage successful relationships to be formed.

No previous experience is necessary as full training is provided, and calls can be made during the week, evenings, or at weekends.
Availability Details: Becoming a Befriender requires one day of training. Once active, days and times are organized around the volunteer's availability.
