Job description
Trustees for Carers Organisation - Volunteer

Carers Link is a busy local organisation that supports families in East Dunbartonshire. We seek Board Members to help lead the team of 15 staff and around 50 volunteers who support those that look after family or friends.

Good Board Members have a vital role to play in directing the success of any charity. The main responsibility is governance to ensure Carers Link is run efficiently and properly, that our funds are spent properly, to monitor the progress of the work of the organisation and to make sure that as the organisation grows, it continues to meet the needs of Carers in East Dunbartonshire.

What are we looking for?

We are keen to hear from anyone who has personal caring experience, either now or in the past. Although you do not need any formal experience to become a Board Member, you should be comfortable with reading reports! Ideally, you should be comfortable using e‑mail and Zoom – or at least willing to get comfortable. Technical support will be provided.

We are also keen to hear from people with specific backgrounds – whether or not they have caring experiences – such as:

  • Business Skills
  • Management or HR backgrounds
  • Knowledge of the voluntary, health or social work sectors
  • Legal or Financial Skills
  • Fundraising
  • Strategic Planning
  • Digital Strategy
What will you be doing?

Board meetings are held five times a year, roughly every 2-3 months. There are also occasional subgroup meetings in-between (by Zoom) and additional discussion/updates are done throughout the year by e‑mail. Board meetings are at our offices in Milngavie (Thursday mornings between 10.00 am-12.30 pm and dates for the year are set in advance).
