Join to apply for the Technical Co-ordinator role at Barratt Redrow.

The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation, and this team is responsible for researching the best materials at the best cost.

In terms of design, there's the variety of sites, many using existing buildings, with unique problems to solve. Then there's the question of new materials and our drive for sustainability and value, all in the face of evolving building and environmental legislation.

Most people in this team have an architectural or engineering background, and we offer the opportunity to gain expertise in design and project management in a thought-provoking setting.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, to co-ordinate external design consultants, obtain building control approvals, discharge planning conditions, ensure mains services are procured, provide Construction Issue drawings for site starts and support site operations.

You will be expected to:

  • Obtaining Technical Drawings and approvals to enable efficient site starts.
  • Minimising risk through provision of timely and high-quality information.
  • Brief, manage and drive the external consultants in the preparation and issue of production information to an agreed programme, fee and scope.
  • Assist in the preparation of Design Programmes with an ability to present at Progression Meetings.
  • Ensure all statutory enquiries, sewer connections and other relevant legal agreements are submitted and pursued for timely completion.
  • Oversee the NHBC/Building Regulations applications to approval.
  • Ensure that working drawings are in accordance with the approved Planning Scheme and discharge planning and building control conditions. Monitor and control all production information in close liaison with the Commercial Department to ensure tight cost controls and information produced in line with budget estimates.
  • Monitor and control the Professional Fees budget and update fee reports on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that the Group Policy and Procedures are fully managed and controlled.
  • Oversee preparation and approval of Brochure Plans, Conveyance Plans and Sales Area drawings.
  • Attend site progress meetings and carry out site inspection.
  • Attend and present at meetings for various project stages (Land/Technical hand-over, Project Meeting, Optimisation, Progression, Technical/Sales, Budget Meetings, etc.).
  • General liaison and coordination between other parties, both internal and external.
  • Attend Subcontractor interviews and meetings where appropriate.
  • Respond to site queries and resolve Technical/Construction problems.
  • Issuing drawings and information for construction purposes.

You’ll need to be:

  • Qualified as a Civil/Building Engineer or hold a Construction related degree; or have attained HNC/HND in a built environment subject with relevant experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of both house and apartment construction.
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC, Party Wall Awards and related legislation.
  • Strong communication and management skills for dealing with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to recognise problems and address them promptly.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • A desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication at all levels with a high attention to detail.
  • Competent IT skills including AutoCAD/Revit.
